Three months ago i recieved a depo medrol shot for alergies. Two days later while working out with my arms, both of them locked up and I became faint. From then on I have had muscle cramping, fatigue and muscle twitching mostly in the triceps and a little in the legs. My doctor said that this could be side effects of the shot. My legs have not been effect near as much. Could me working out and by my muscles being damaged by intense workouts cause them to soak up the shot and be effected even more. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks so much |

Yes! Depo-Medrol® (methylprednisolone acetate injectable suspension) have Musculoskeletal adverse reactions. Some of these adverse reactions are:
* Muscle weakness
* Steroid myopathy
* Loss of muscle mass
* Osteoporosis
* Tendon rupture, particularly of the Achilles tendon
* Vertebral compression fractures
* Aseptic necrosis of femoral and humeral heads
* Pathologic fracture of long bones
These effects have little to do with your workouts, however. Although, with these events you may not want your workouts to be too intense. On high doses of steroids or IV doses, it is important to keep up with your exercise routine.
Prednisone causes muscle wasting especially in your legs and may make you feel weak. Exercise will help you keep your activity level up.
You and your doctor should decide if Depo-Medrol is right for you. This basically comes down to determining if its use outweigh the consequenses.
Hope this answers your question!
